Meghan McDermott
Meghan McDermott, originally
from Sodus, NY moved to Hartford, CT in 2004 to attend the Hartford Conservatory.
While at school Meghan had the honor to work with Jacques D'Amboise for her
internship with the National Dance Institute. She graduated in 2006 with a
double major in Dance Pedagogy and Dance Performance.Meghan
was a founding member with SOMA Dance Company in Hartford CT, under the
Direction of Darcie Froman-Shultz from 2006-2010. She also dances frequently
with DFX entertainment at Mohegan Sun under the direction of Nicole
Cassarino-Conlon. Meghan currently dances with dancEnlight in Hartford CT under
the direction of Lorelei Chang. She is thrilled to be a part of SOMA dance
company again!
Jaime Keating
Jaime Keating has twenty years
experience dancing, performing and teaching with a special focus on Modern and
Ballet. She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in
Dance. Jaime is one of the founders of CEDE Dance Company and Studio in Salida,
CO. She enjoys choreographing, performing and being part of the inspiration for
children to dance. Dance has been a large part of Jaime’s life and she is
thrilled at the opportunity to be a part of the SOMA Dance Company.Andrea Mossman
Andrea has been dancing and performing since 1980. She has been schooled in ballet, tap, jazz, belly dance, African dance, lyrical dance, modern dance and acrobatics. In college, Andrea studied music and theater, focusing in traditional Afro-Cuban drumming and dancing, at Fort Lewis College. “I love learning new and fun dance techniques but I am always drawn back to my roots in ballet , jazz and theater. I love dancing and exploring movement with lyrical and modern dance but I have now found a new love of teaching kids the importance of creating movement.”

Katie Moncebaiz
Katherine Moncebaiz is a new
resident of Boston, MA, where she can be found dancing around town as a
certified Zumba instructor, as well as teaching with the Boston Ballet’s
Community Outreach Program. Katherine continues to perform, most recently
dancing with the Danny Swain Dance Company and Lostwax. Ms. Moncebaiz is a graduate
of Central Connecticut State University where she completed her BFA in
Dance/Theatre, Cum Laude. While at CCSU, Katherine performed with Dancentral,
under the direction of Catherine Fellows, and worked with guest artists such as
Paul Dennis , a former member of the Limon Company, and Jennifer Muller.
Before she studied at CCSU,
Katherine attended Manhattanville College, in Purchase, NY as a dance major.
She then transferred to the Hartford Conservatory where she graduated with a
Dance Pedagogy Certificate in 2006. Katherine has studied at the
Merce Cunningham Summer Intensive in NYC, where she learned and performed
original Cunningham choreography. She has also interned with the National Dance
Institution and founder Jaques d’Amboise, learning the NDI teaching methods. Katherine is grateful to be a charter member of Soma Dance Company and to be able to dance with such a talented group of people!
Jane Whitmer
Jane Whitmer, originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, moved to Salida in 1999 where she dances with River Tribe African Drum and Dance Troupe, studies with CEDE Dance Company, and is a member of the Salida Circus School. She is a certified Yoga and Dance Kinetics instructor and has studied jazz, tap, modern and African dance. Jane has performed with David Dorfman Dance, Pearson Widrig Dance Theater, and Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and is currently looking forward to choreographing Salida’s first Flashmob. Jane believes that there is a dancer hiding in all of us (regardless of age or ability), waiting to be discovered, and is thrilled to be a part of SOMA Dance Company.
